Audio Cutter

Trim MP3, WAV, M4A and other audio files in your browser, add fades and download as MP3 or WAV. Your file never leaves your device.

How to use the Audio Cutter

Audio Cutter lets you pick the exact part of an audio file, down to the millisecond, for ringtones, podcast clips, video music or voice notes. Everything runs in your browser and your file is never sent anywhere.

  1. Drag your audio file into the box or open it with "Choose file".
  2. Drag across the waveform to select the part you want, then fine-tune it with the edge handles.
  3. Type exact start and end times if needed, or zoom in for precise selections on long files.
  4. Choose "Keep selection" to keep only that part or "Remove selection" to cut it out, then adjust fades and volume.
  5. Check it with "Preview result", pick a format and press "Cut & download".

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The audio is processed on your own device with the browser's Web Audio API; the connection is only used to load the page and the MP3 encoder.
Which formats can I open?
Any format your browser can decode: MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG, Opus and FLAC in most browsers. If a file will not open, convert it to MP3 or WAV first.
Should I choose MP3 or WAV?
MP3 (192 kbps is enough in most cases) gives small files for sharing, ringtones and the web. Choose WAV for lossless quality and further editing; it is roughly 10 times larger.
Will there be a click where I cut?
The tool applies an automatic 4 ms smoothing at every cut point, so there is no audible click. Add fade in/out for a softer transition.
Is there a file size limit?
You can open files up to 250 MB. Very long recordings may be slow on phones depending on your device's memory.
